ADU SERVICES

What is an accessory dwelling unit (ADU)?

An accessory dwelling unit, or ADU, is a smaller house or apartment that shares the building acreage of a larger main house. They are also commonly referred to as granny apartments, in-laws' housing, or casitas. Their design can range from a converted garage or basement, to a backyard casita or a studio over a garage.
Affordable in size and cost

One of the most attractive features of ADUs is their size. These micro-homes don't take up a lot of space, making them ideal in urban areas where real estate is hard to come by. But it's not just physical space that's cheap. Building an ADU can be much less expensive than buying a larger home or moving into a new property.
Why Consider an ADU?

Even if you're not currently facing changes in the number of people living with you, there are several reasons why adding an ADU to your property could be beneficial:

  1. Rental income. An ADU is a lucrative rental unit that offers homeowners an additional source of income.
  2. Increased property value. Adding a secondary home can increase the overall value of your home.
  3. Flexible housing arrangements. ADUs can accommodate visiting guests, young adults attending college, or aging parents.
  4. Sustainability. Being smaller, ADUs often require fewer resources to build and maintain.
  5. Work from home space. For remote workers, an ADU can serve as a peaceful and dedicated workplace.
